For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
— John 3:16
Hello, dear friend. We’ve arrived at the last day of this month together, and I can’t think of a more fitting place to land than right here — at the verse that started it all for so many of us. John 3:16. You’ve probably known it since childhood. You’ve seen it on bumper stickers and stadium signs. But today, I want us to read it slowly, as if for the very first time, because I believe there is something in it you may have never fully received.

God so loved. Not just loved — so loved. The depth of that word “so” is staggering. It is a love that moved heaven itself. It is a love that looked at you specifically — not the collective world, but you, with your name and your story and your longings — and said, “She is worth everything.” And then He gave.
You Are the ‘Whosoever’
One of the most powerful words in this entire verse is “whosoever.” It is the widest possible net of invitation. It doesn’t say “the married” or “the ones who have it together” or “the ones whose lives look like they expected.” It says whosoever. That means you, exactly as you are, in this season, with all your questions and your waiting and your hoping.
The promise of eternal life is not a consolation prize for the things we haven’t received yet. It is the greatest gift ever given — a life that doesn’t end, a love that doesn’t fade, a belonging that can never be taken away. And it is yours, today, simply because you believe.
Let This Truth Reshape How You See Your Season
When you truly internalize the promise of eternal life, something shifts in how you view your present circumstances. The waiting doesn’t disappear, but it loses its sting. The longing for love is still real, but it no longer defines you — because you are already the most loved person in the universe. You are deeply loved and cherished by God — not because of what you’ve done, but because of who He is.
This month we have walked through Scripture together — its power, its wisdom, its comfort, and its truth. We’ve learned tools for studying it, methods for applying it, and ways to share it. But all of it — every verse, every devotional, every quiet morning with your Bible open — points back to this: God loves you. He gave His Son for you. And He is preparing a life for you that is far beyond what you can see from where you’re standing today. As you step into a new month, carry this promise with you. You are never alone. His love is your anchor. And His promises are yes and amen.
Reflection Prompt
Close this month by writing a letter to God in your journal — not a prayer list, just a love letter back to the One who loved you first. Thank Him for what He has shown you this month, and tell Him what the promise of eternal life means to you personally. End with John 3:16 written in your own handwriting as a declaration and a celebration.
