For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
Dear friend, sometimes life feels like a never-ending waiting game. As a single Christian woman, you may find yourself wondering about your purpose and calling while you wait for that special someone to share life with. I've been there too, navigating through various seasons of waiting and searching for clarity in God's plan. It was during one of these seasons that I stumbled upon the beautiful truth in Ephesians 2:10.

One particular afternoon, I decided to take a long walk in the nearby park. The air was fresh, and nature was beginning to bloom, bursting with vibrant colors. I found a quiet spot under a large oak tree, sat down, and opened my Bible. As I read Ephesians 2:10, it dawned on me that even in my singleness, I was crafted with a purpose. Each facet of my life was a brushstroke in God's masterpiece. I began to see my life as a tapestry woven with unique threads of experiences, talents, and dreams— all significant in God’s eyes.
Your Purpose Matters
Just like the flowers around me had been designed intentionally, so have you. God has ordained good works for you to walk in, tailored specifically to your personality, gifts, and experiences. Embracing your unique calling doesn't mean waiting for a partner to find fulfillment. It means recognizing that your journey has immense value, even as you stand alone.
Here are some practical ways to discover and embrace your unique calling:
Seek God in Prayer: Regularly talk to God about your desires and aspirations. Ask Him to reveal what He has in store for you.
Identify Your Gifts: Reflect on your talents and passions. What activities bring you joy? What are you naturally drawn to? These can be clues to your calling.
Serve Others: Find ways to volunteer or serve in your community. Often, our unique calling is discovered through acts of service.
Embrace Your Season: Recognize that singleness is a gift and an opportunity. Use this time to grow in your relationship with God, travel, pursue education, or engage in hobbies.
Connect with Other Women: Surround yourself with fellow sisters in Christ who can encourage, support, and challenge you in your journey.
Living Out Your Calling
It's essential to remember that just because you are single does not diminish your worth or your calling. God has a unique plan for your life that includes so much more than marital status. Embrace the idea that each moment, including this waiting season, is shaping you for your future. Your unique calling is a part of who you are, designed to shine brightly for others to see.
As you continue to pray, seek, and serve, trust in God’s timing. He is preparing you for the next chapter in your life where you will be able to walk confidently in the calling He has for you. Remember, you are His masterpiece, unique and wonderfully made!
Reflection Prompt: Take a moment to think about your current season. What unique calling might God be revealing to you during this time? Write down any insights you receive.
