For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
— John 3:16
Hello, dear friend. Have you ever received a letter that was written just for you? Not a mass email or a generic card, but something someone sat down and carefully composed with you alone in mind? There is something deeply moving about knowing someone thought of you specifically, took the time to put words together, and sent them your way. That is exactly what God did when He gave us the Bible.
John 3:16 is perhaps the most quoted verse in all of Scripture. But familiarity can sometimes dull us to what it is actually saying. God — the Creator of the universe, the Alpha and Omega, the One who holds all things together — loved the world. And the word ‘world’ includes you, specifically, individually, personally. He saw you before you were born and still chose to give everything.

A Love Letter Written for You
As a single woman, you may sometimes wonder if you are truly seen and loved. Culture can make singleness feel like a waiting room — a placeholder until something better arrives. But God’s Word tells a completely different story. You are not waiting to be loved. You are already deeply, fully, and completely loved right now, in this season, exactly as you are.
Every page of Scripture is God leaning in and saying: I see you. I know you. I chose you. From Genesis to Revelation, it is one long, beautiful story of a God who refuses to let His people go. And you are part of that story.
Reading the Bible as a Love Letter
Insert your name: When you read a promise or a declaration of love in Scripture, personalize it. Replace ‘the world’ or ‘his people’ with your own name and read it out loud.
Linger in the Psalms: The Psalms are some of the most intimate expressions of the relationship between God and His people. Let them become your own prayers.
Let it counter the lies: When you feel unseen or unloved, open your Bible specifically looking for how God describes you. Let His words about you overwrite what the world says.
Reflection Prompt
Write out John 3:16 in your journal, but replace ‘the world’ with your own name. Then sit with that for a few moments. How does it feel to read it that way? Ask God to help you receive His love not just as a doctrine, but as a daily personal truth.
