Why Prayer Is the Most Powerful Thing You Can Do Today

When Everything Feels Unstable, Here’s the One Thing You Can Stand On

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.

— Psalm 119:160

Hello, dear friend. I want to ask you something honest: how many things in your life right now feel certain? Maybe your job has shifted, a relationship ended without warning, or you’ve been praying for something so long you’ve started to wonder if God is listening. Life has a way of making us feel like nothing is truly solid — like we’re standing on sand.

But Psalm 119:160 gives us something breathtaking to hold onto: God’s Word is true from the very beginning, and His judgments — His promises, His plans, His character — endure forever. Not for a season. Not until circumstances change. Forever.

Truth That Doesn’t Change With the Season

We live in a culture that treats truth like an opinion — something personal, flexible, and subject to revision. But the God of Scripture declares that His Word was true at creation and remains true today. Every promise He made to women in the Old Testament still stands for you. Every comfort He offered in the Psalms is still available in your quiet moments. Every instruction in the New Testament still applies to your daily life as a single woman navigating faith, loneliness, and hope.

This is the foundation no life circumstance can shake. You may not know what your future holds, who you’ll marry, or where you’ll be in five years — but you can know this: the Word of God will still be true tomorrow morning.

Building Your Life on Something That Lasts

Jesus told the story of two builders — one who built on rock and one who built on sand (Matthew 7:24–27). The difference wasn’t whether the storms came. They came for both. The difference was what they had built on. Here are three ways to make God’s Word the bedrock of your daily life:

  • Return to it when you’re confused: Before you scroll social media or call a friend, open your Bible. Let truth orient you before opinions do.

  • Memorize verses that anchor you: Choose one or two Scriptures that speak to your current season and commit them to memory. When the storm hits, you’ll have something to hold.

  • Test everything against it: When a decision, a relationship, or a thought doesn’t align with Scripture, let the Word be the final word.

Dear friend, you don’t have to have everything figured out to have a firm foundation. You just need to stand on something that doesn’t move. God’s Word is that something.

Reflection Prompt

Write down one area of your life that feels unstable right now. Then search Scripture for a promise that speaks directly to that area. Write it out, pray it back to God, and let it be your anchor today.
