"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
As a single Christian woman, there are moments when the future feels daunting. You're waiting for that special someone, wondering what God’s plan is for your life.

I remember a time in my own journey when I was longing for clarity about my future. In a moment of frustration, I found myself sliding into the familiar pit of comparison—scrolling through social media feeds filled with engagement announcements and happy couples. Yet, in that vulnerable moment, God whispered to my heart, reminding me of His promise in Proverbs 3:5-6.
God's Understanding vs. Our Understanding
How often do we wrestle with trusting God fully? We want to know the details of our future—a spouse, a fulfilling career, or a greater purpose. In our eagerness, we sometimes attempt to navigate life based on our understanding rather than leaning into God's infinite wisdom. The Bible prompts us to trust wholeheartedly in Him, reminding us that God’s view of our future is far greater than our limited perspective.
Consider how easy it is to rely on our plans. For instance, we might anticipate a certain timeline for our lives, but what if God has different, far better intentions that require waiting? In placing our trust in Him, we embark on a journey that leads to peace, knowing that every step along the way is directed by His plans for us.
Thriving in the Wait
While waiting may feel stagnant, it’s a time rich with possibilities. Here are some practical ways to thrive in your singleness:
Deepen Your Relationship with God: Use this time to foster a deeper connection through prayer and study of His Word.
Focus on Personal Growth: Pursue your passions, develop new skills, and engage in activities that enrich your life.
Build Strong Community: Surround yourself with friends who encourage and uplift you in your faith journey.
Trusting God with your future is not always easy, but it’s always worth it. It’s about letting go of control and embracing the beautiful unknown with faith.
As you reflect on your journey this week, consider where you might be leaning on your own understanding instead of God’s. Are there fears or worries that you need to surrender? Write them down and pray, inviting God into those spaces of uncertainty. Remember, His path is always good and filled with hope.
