"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you..." James 4:8
In the hum of life, it's easy to feel distant from God, especially during seasons of waiting. As single Christian women, we often find ourselves in moments of longing, yearning for companionship, and perhaps feeling a bit lonely. Yet, there's an incredible truth: God desires intimacy with us right where we are.
My Journey to Discovering His Presence

Let me take you back to a time in my life when I was waiting on God for direction. I remember one particular day, feeling overwhelmed. I had friends in relationships, cousins getting married, and the weight of societal expectations felt heavy. I went for a walk in nature, seeking solace. As I breathed in the fresh air, the world around me transformed—dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves, the sound of birds chirping, and a gentle breeze reminding me of God’s presence.
It was at that moment, nestled in nature’s beauty, that I felt God's whisper. I realized that I might be waiting, but I wasn’t alone. God was intimately aware of my situation and wanted a deeper connection with me. My solitude became a sacred space where I could meet Him. He was there, interested in my dreams, my worries, and my joys.
Spiritual Application: Cultivating Intimacy with God
Drawing close to God is not just about seeking Him in tough times, but it’s about developing a consistent relationship. Here are some practical ways to invite His presence into your life:
Daily Prayer: Set aside time each day to talk to God. Let it be a conversation rather than a checklist—share your heart openly.
Scripture Reading: Dive into His Word. Reading passages like James 4:8 can remind you of the promise that as you draw near to Him, He draws near to you.
Creative Journaling: Write down your thoughts, prayers, and any insights. This can help cultivate awareness of His presence in your life.
Nature Walks: Spend time outdoors. Nature often reveals God’s character and can be a beautiful reminder of His intimate presence.
Worship Music: Surround yourself with songs that uplift your spirit and draw you closer to Him.
In this season of waiting, it’s essential to remember that our relationship with God can flourish in the quiet moments. These are the times when we can truly know His heart. God wants you to thrive while you wait, and His presence is the key to that fulfillment.
Reflection Prompt: What steps can you take this week to draw nearer to God and cultivate a greater sense of His presence in your life? Consider committing to a daily routine that nurtures your relationship with Him.
