The Serenity of God’s Love in Singleness

The Unfailing Love You Can Trust

"Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away." 1 Corinthians 13:8

In the quiet of early morning, I found myself sipping coffee on my porch, reflecting on how difficult this season of waiting has been. As a single Christian woman, sometimes I wonder if love will ever find me. I look around at friends getting married and starting families and feel the pang of longing. In those moments, I recall 1 Corinthians 13:8, reminding me of a love that never fails—not the love from relationships, but the love of Jesus.

The Eternal Assurance of God’s Love

This love isn't contingent on my relationship status; it’s constant and unchanging. It's a profound comfort to know that while the worldly definitions of love may falter or fade, God's love is steadfast. During this current season, I’ve found strength in the simplicity of that promise. When I feel alone or anxious about the future, I turn to the Scripture and meditate on His unfailing love.

In my journey, I have embraced a few key truths about how to thrive in this waiting period:

  • Reflection on God’s Love: Daily remind yourself of how deeply loved you are by God. Scripture speaks of His relentless pursuit of your heart.

  • Practice Loving Others: Actively seek ways to show love to those around you—friends, family, and even strangers. This act of giving love reflects the love God has for you.

  • Stay Committed to Growth: Utilize this time to grow in your faith, explore new interests, and deepen relationships. God has a purpose for this season.

Living in the Present

While waiting can feel challenging, embracing God's love provides a lens through which to view our situations differently. It encourages us not to rush into relationships just to fill a void but to thrive in the knowledge that we are already complete in Him. In this time, we can cultivate a joy that is independent of our circumstances.

So, as we navigate through the waiting, let’s hold onto the truth that we are wrapped in the arms of a love that never ends. Whether we marry or remain single, His love is our foundation, our joy, and our everlasting promise.

Reflection Prompt: How can you actively remind yourself of God's unfailing love this week? Write down three ways you can celebrate this love in your daily life.
