"The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself." (Proverbs 11:25)
Do you remember a time when someone did something kind for you, and it made your day? I recall a particularly dreary morning when I was rushing to work, my mind cluttered with thoughts of my to-do list and the challenges ahead. Just as I was about to grab my coffee from the local shop, I overheard a woman in line ahead of me. She was in conversation with the barista, discussing how she wanted to pay for her coffee and the person behind her. It caught my attention. Her simple act of kindness turned two mundane moments into one of connection and warmth.

The Ripple Effect of Kindness
That day, I found myself inspired to act, to do something small for someone else, and it transformed not just my day but set a beautiful chain reaction in motion. In Proverbs 11:25, we are reminded of a profound truth—when we give generously of ourselves, we are also enriched. The scripture reveals a divine principle that resonates with our desire for connection and love. As single Christian women waiting for the next chapter of our lives, we can cultivate joy in our current circumstances by engaging in daily acts of kindness.
Kindness doesn't have to be grand; it can be small, like complimenting a coworker, writing a note of gratitude, or simply offering a smile to a stranger. When we focus on others, we find that our own hearts are filled with the light of joy.
Here are some practical ways to challenge yourself to perform small acts of kindness daily:
Send an Encouraging Text: Reach out to a friend who might be feeling lonely and remind them of their worth.
Volunteer Your Time: Find a local charity and dedicate an hour or two each week to help those in need.
Compliment Someone: Notice something special about a colleague or a neighbor and make their day with a heartfelt compliment.
Share a Meal: Invite a single friend over for dinner; sharing a meal is a great way to build connections.
Practice Gratitude: Keep a kindness journal where you note your acts of kindness as well as those you receive.
Walking in the Footsteps of Christ
As we integrate these small acts of kindness into our daily lives, we embody the love of Christ. Jesus continually practiced kindness, reaching out to the marginalized and showing love to those who needed it most. In our singleness, we have an opportunity to reflect His grace and goodness through our actions.
Our acts might feel small, but remember, every drop in the ocean counts.
The more we practice kindness, the more we become aware of the needs around us, and the more joy we cultivate in our own spirits. Let’s challenge ourselves, as women rooted in faith, to deliberately sprinkle kindness throughout our days. What better way to thrive in this season of waiting than to actively spread love and compassion?
Reflect and Respond
Take a moment to reflect on your day. How did kindness play a role, or how can you invite more of it into your life? Write down at least one way you can show kindness to someone tomorrow. Make this a purposeful part of your routine, embracing the heart of service during this waiting season.
