"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit." Ephesians 5:18
Imagine a beautiful day at the lake, where the sun dances on the water, and the breeze carries the sweet scent of blooming flowers. I remember a particular summer afternoon, where I sat by the water's edge, feeling the warmth of the sun and the gentle caress of the wind. As I flipped through my Bible, reading the words of Ephesians, it struck me that I was surrounded by life. Just as the lake is filled with water, our hearts can be filled with the Spirit of God if we intentionally invite Him in.

His Spirit in Our Waiting Seasons
As single Christian women, waiting for God’s timing in marriage can sometimes feel like an endless journey. You might hear well-meaning friends say, "Enjoy your singleness!" But deep within, that can be a challenging reminder. However, the beauty of this season lies in our ability to be completely consumed by the presence of God. When we are filled with His Spirit, we find peace, joy, and purpose amidst our waiting.
Being filled with the Spirit is not a one-time event but a daily choice. It involves asking God to fill us anew, to give us the strength to navigate life's challenges.
Just as we would recharge our phones, we need to recharge our spirits. Here are some practical ways to invite the Holy Spirit into your daily life:
Daily Prayer: Start your day with prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Bible Reading: Dive into the Word—let His teachings be a source of nourishment.
Worship: Listen to worship music that uplifts your spirit and draws you closer to God.
Seek Fellowship: Surround yourself with other women of faith who encourage you in your journey.
Finding Comfort and Joy
In moments when the waiting feels heavy, remember that being filled with His Spirit empowers you to find joy even in the stillness. The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience—becomes evident in your actions and interactions. You start to thrive in your current circumstances instead of merely surviving. It's like walking through a garden where each flower represents a promise fulfilled within you as you allow the Spirit to work.
God desires a relationship with you that transcends your circumstances. By cultivating a lifestyle of being filled with His Spirit, you can experience the fullness of life that Jesus promises—a life abundant, rich in faith and purpose.
Reflection Prompt: Take a moment to reflect: What areas in your life do you need to invite the Holy Spirit? Write down some thoughts in a journal about how you can practically seek His fullness today.
Being a single Christian woman doesn’t mean you have to wait for your life to truly begin. Embrace this beautiful season, and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you and empower you to live your best life now.
