If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
As a single Christian woman, you may find yourself at a crossroads, wondering what direction to take in your life. Recently, I faced a decision that felt overwhelming—deciding whether to change careers or stay in a job that felt stagnant. In the midst of this uncertainty, I remembered the words of James. I realized that in times of flux, God invites us to ask for wisdom.

One evening, I found myself sitting on the porch, a warm cup of tea in hand, and I lifted my concerns to God. I poured out my heart and asked for clarity. Almost immediately, a sense of peace washed over me, reminding me that God desires to lead me on this journey, even when I can’t see the path ahead.
The Importance of Asking
God encourages us to seek His wisdom, not just during major life changes but in our everyday decisions—whether concerning relationships, career moves, or personal growth. However, asking for wisdom requires humility and trust. By reaching out to God, we acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers and that we need His guidance to navigate our paths.
Here are a few steps to help you seek wisdom:
Pray Regularly: Make prayer a part of your everyday life. Bring your questions and fears to God.
Read Scripture: Dive into the Word where wisdom is abundant. Proverbs, in particular, is a treasure trove of insight.
Seek Counsel: Share your thoughts with trusted friends or mentors who can provide godly advice.
Embrace the Journey
God promises to give wisdom generously. When you feel unsure about the future—when waiting for the right partner or contemplating a new path—remember that each step is part of His divine plan. Openness to His guidance and a willingness to grow can help you thrive in your current circumstances.
As you navigate your journey, trust in God's timing. Linger in His presence and allow Him to reveal the wisdom needed for each season of your life.
After you step out in faith, you may find that wisdom unfolds in ways you never expected. Each day is a chance for God to teach you something new.
Reflection Prompt: What decision or path in your life do you need wisdom for right now? Take a moment to ask God for guidance, and write down what you feel He reveals to you.
