The Bold Yes: Lessons from Rebekah's Decision

Rooted in His Love: Finding Steadfastness in Singleness

Listen to the Devotional!
"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." – Jeremiah 17:7-8
Trusting God's Perfect Timing, No Matter the Season

How often do we find ourselves looking ahead, perhaps longing for a different season in our lives? As single Christian women, it's easy to focus on what we might be lacking or what hasn't yet come to pass. We might yearn for partnership, family, or a clearer path. But today, let's pause and reflect on the profound wisdom found in Jeremiah.

This passage paints a beautiful picture of resilience and steadfastness. It speaks of a tree, not uprooted and replanted based on external circumstances, but planted by the water. Its confidence isn't in the changing weather, but in its constant source of nourishment. Its roots run deep, drawing life from the stream, allowing its leaves to remain green and its fruit to appear, even in times of drought.

Think about your own life. Are you, like that tree, deeply rooted in the Lord? When challenges arise, or when the "heat comes" in the form of loneliness, disappointment, or uncertainty, where do you draw your strength? Our confidence must be firmly placed in Him, knowing that He is our unfailing source of living water. Just as the tree doesn't fear, we too can find peace, understanding that our worth and purpose are not defined by our relationship status or worldly achievements, but by our identity in Christ. When we are deeply rooted in His Word and His presence, we can bloom exactly where He has planted us, bearing fruit that glorifies Him, regardless of the season.

Reflection Prompts

In what specific areas of your single life do you need to deepen your roots in the Lord? How can you practically draw more from His "living water" this week? (Consider setting aside dedicated time for prayer or scripture reading).

Read Psalm 1:3. How does this verse echo Jeremiah 17:7-8, and what does it reveal about the character of a blessed person?

Remember, sisters, your season of singleness is not a waiting room, but a fertile ground where God is cultivating something beautiful within you.
