"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him." - Psalm 28:7

As single Christian women, we often face unique vulnerabilities. Perhaps it’s the pressure to prove our worth in a fast-paced world, the fear of making major life decisions alone, or the subtle ache of loneliness. When we feel exposed, we instinctively look for a shield—maybe in a demanding career, endless social activities, or even the hope of a relationship.
This glorious verse from the Psalms redirects our gaze: The LORD is our strength and our shield. He is not just a help; He is the ultimate protector and provider. When your heart trusts completely in Him—not in your own capabilities or the future promises you hope for—you are instantly helped. This is not a passive trust; it's an active, daily choice to place your entire security under His care.
For a single woman, this looks like choosing to find your deepest confidence in Christ alone. Instead of worrying about future financial security, you trust the Provider. Instead of despairing over singleness, you find your greatest joy in the one relationship that is guaranteed to never fail: your relationship with your Savior. This trust leads directly to rejoicing and praise! When the world sees you as vulnerable, God sees you as protected and powerful because your defense rests entirely in Him.
Reflection Prompts
What is one area (e.g., career, finances, social status) where I have been looking for my "shield" outside of God? How can I intentionally release that area to Him today? (Thoughtful Question & Practical Action Item)
Read Proverbs 30:5 ("Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.") and reflect on how trusting in God's Word acts as a shield against worldly anxieties. (Suggested Bible Reading)
Allow the absolute truth of God's protection to settle your spirit today, knowing that your greatest strength and most impenetrable shield is the Lord Himself.
