Blooming Where You're Planted: Finding Joy in the Present

My dear sister, how often do we find ourselves looking ahead, perhaps to a future relationship, a different life stage, or an unfulfilled desire, and inadvertently miss the beauty and purpose in our present circumstances? It's easy to get caught in the "when-then" trap: "When I meet the right person, then I'll truly be happy," or "When my life looks a certain way, then I'll fully serve God."

But Jesus gives us a radical invitation in Matthew 6:33. He doesn't say "seek the kingdom after you have everything else sorted," or "seek the kingdom when your singleness ends." He says "seek ye first." This isn't just about prayer; it's about reordering our entire lives, our desires, and our daily focus around God's kingdom and His righteousness.

Consider this: a single woman might spend countless hours scrolling through social media, comparing her life to others, or even strategizing ways to meet a partner. While there's nothing wrong with preparation or healthy connection, if this pursuit overshadows her devotion to God, she's missing the "first." What if, instead, she intentionally carved out that time to delve into scripture, serve in her local church, or pour into a meaningful friendship, all with the intent of glorifying God?

When we genuinely prioritize His kingdom – His values, His will, His glory – something transformative happens. "All these things shall be added unto you." This isn't a promise for material wealth, but a divine assurance that as we align our hearts with His, He faithfully provides for our needs and often brings blessings we never even anticipated, in His perfect timing. Focus on blooming right where God has planted you today, knowing that your greatest joy and purpose are found in Him, not in a future circumstance.

Reflection Prompts

What "things" in your life are you seeking before God's kingdom and righteousness? How can you practically re-prioritize God's desires for you today?

Read Philippians 4:6-7. How does seeking God first help you release anxieties about "all these things" and embrace His peace?

Let your primary pursuit be God's kingdom and His righteousness, and trust that as you prioritize Him, every other "thing" in your life will find its proper place and purpose.
