Why Prayer Is the Most Powerful Thing You Can Do Today

Before You Move On, Pause and See How Far God Has Brought You

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

— Lamentations 3:40

Hello, dear friend. We live in a world that rarely stops moving. The moment one month ends, the next one begins, and we rush forward without ever pausing to look back. But today I want us to do something countercultural and deeply valuable: stop, look behind us, and truly see how far God has brought us.

Jeremiah wrote Lamentations in the middle of great grief — and yet even there, he called the people to self-examination. Not to wallow in failure, but to look honestly at the journey and turn toward God with renewed intention. That is the heart of reflection: not condemnation, but course-correction and gratitude.

What Reflection Actually Does for Your Soul

When you take time to reflect, several powerful things happen. First, you build your faith by recognizing God’s faithfulness — because His fingerprints are often easier to see in hindsight than in the moment. Second, you cultivate gratitude by naming what He has done. And third, you gain clarity for the road ahead by understanding where you've been.

Think back to the beginning of this month. Where were you spiritually? What were you struggling with? What Scriptures met you in those places? How has your understanding of God’s Word grown? These questions are not idle — they are milestones that mark the faithfulness of God in your story.

A Guided Reflection for Today

Set aside at least fifteen minutes today and work through these reflection questions in your journal:

  • What is one truth from Scripture this month that genuinely changed the way I think or feel about my singleness?

  • Where did I see God show up for me in an unexpected way this month?

  • What habit or practice this month most helped me grow closer to God? How can I protect and continue it?

  • Is there an area where I still need to turn more fully toward the Lord? What would that look like this week?

Reflection is a gift you give yourself. It honors the work God has done, builds gratitude in every circumstance, and prepares your heart for what He has next. You are not the same woman you were at the start of this month. Take a moment to celebrate that.

Reflection Prompt

Write the heading “What God Did This Month” in your journal and fill the page. Don’t rush. Let each entry be an act of worship. End by writing Lamentations 3:40 as a commitment to keep examining your heart and turning toward Him.
