You Are the Reason God Wrote This Book

Becoming His Hands and Feet: Embracing Your Purpose in Singleness

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

As a single Christian woman, it's easy to feel as though you're in a holding pattern, waiting for your future husband to arrive while time slips away. I remember when I first found myself in this situation. I would often gaze at my friends who were married, wondering if God had forgotten about me. One day, during my quiet time, I felt the Lord prompting me to look beyond my circumstances and focus on how I could be His hands and feet right where I was.

Becoming His Hands and Feet: Embracing Your Purpose in Singleness

This journey led me to volunteer at a local food bank. I started meeting women in similar situations, each with their own stories, struggles, and hearts to share. Instead of longing for a partner, I found companionship and purpose in serving others. Together, we created a community that made our light shine, illuminating hope in the lives around us. In those moments, I understood the true meaning of ‘being His hands and feet.’

Serving with Purpose

Jesus calls us to reflect His light through our actions. It’s not just about waiting patiently; it’s about actively living out our faith. Here are some practical ways to embrace this calling during your season of singleness:

  • Engage in Service: Look for opportunities in your community—food banks, shelters, or church ministries—and get involved.

  • Spread Kindness: Small acts of kindness at your workplace, or even on social media, can make a significant impact.

  • Pray for Others: Intercede for friends and family. Prayer is a powerful way to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

When we step outside our comfort zones and begin to serve, God fills our hearts with joy and growth. In each small action, we are adding light to the world, reflecting Christ’s love in a tangible way. Our lives can be a testament to His goodness even before we step into the next chapter of our lives.

Reflecting His Love

Remember that God has called you to be His ambassador in this season. Each act of service doesn’t just benefit those around you; it also enriches your life, allowing you to flourish in your faith. You may be single, but your purpose is not on hold. Your light can shine through love, kindness, and compassion.

In closing, take a moment today to consider how you can be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever you are. The world is waiting for your light.

Reflection Prompt: What specific way can you serve others this week? Consider how this might bring joy into your life while allowing you to glorify God in the process.
