"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise." – Psalm 57:7

In a world that constantly pulls us in different directions, it's easy for our hearts to feel unsettled, especially as single Christian women navigating unique paths. We might face the currents of comparison, the undertow of loneliness, or the swirling eddies of future anxieties. But King David, in a moment of distress, declared a powerful truth: "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed."
To have a fixed heart means to be firm, steadfast, and unshakeable in our faith and trust in God. It's a deliberate choice to anchor our souls in His unchanging character, no matter the circumstances.
Imagine a beautiful houseplant, perhaps a sturdy fern, thriving in its pot. Its roots are firmly established, drawing nourishment from the soil, allowing its fronds to unfurl gracefully and withstand gentle breezes. In the same way, when our hearts are fixed on God, our spiritual roots go deep into His truth. We draw strength, peace, and joy from Him, enabling us to stand firm against the "winds" of life.
This isn't about ignoring our feelings or pretending challenges don't exist; it's about choosing to place our trust higher than our temporary feelings or situations. When our heart is fixed on God, our worship and praise naturally flow, even when things are tough, just as David proclaimed, "I will sing and give praise."
Let's make that choice today, to fix our gaze and our hearts on our unwavering God. He is our constant, our rock, and our firm foundation.
