Thriving as a Single Christian Woman

Daily Practices for Single Christian Women to Deepen Their Faith and Relationship with Jesus

There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 1 Corinthians 7:34

As single Christian women, we have the opportunity to fully dedicate our time and attention to the Lord. If you're desiring to prepare your heart and mind for marriage, there is no better way than to deepen your faith and relationship with the Lord.

Daily Practices for Single Christian Women to Deepen Their Faith and Relationship with Jesus

This is something that I've strived to do more and more. It's easy to get caught up in everything else that's fighting for my attention... the newest Hallmark movie or just scrolling through YouTube shorts. But I never regret the time I spend with Jesus... but I often regret the time I waste on things which don't matter.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have this all figured out, and I certainly don't get it right all the time. But I hope you'll still find this encouraging by taking at least one of these things and applying it to your day-to-day.

Embracing Daily Prayer

I will admit, I used to look at prayer as a kind of a burden. I'm just being real here.

But that's because I didn't know or value what prayer really is. It's not this Christian task that we check off our daily to-do list so that God is happy with us. Nor is it a task we're required to do in order to make God do something.

We all have heard the cliche that "we are meant to have a relationship with God", but how many of us truly understand what that means? Let alone apply that to how we communicate with the Lord?

When I started to really understand that the Holy Spirit dwells within me and He promises to never leave or forsake me, that's when I truly started to deepen my prayer life.

We sometimes treat the AI assistant on our phone as more reliable and ready to help than God the Father. Did you know that you have a more powerful and reliable resource for life with you always?

I find myself doing this a work a lot. Just last week, I was getting ready to give a presentation to a room of almost 80 people, and I was nervous. I whispered a quick prayer, just asking the Lord for help with clear speech and a smooth presentation. Prayer doesn't always have to be this premeditated and formal event. He is always with us to help and guide us.

Diving into Scripture

We all know this.... the Word of God is our source of life. The author and finisher of our faith gave us this guide for life, so in every situation, we can run to him and see what He has to say about it.

I can't even begin to tell you the truths that the Lord has revealed to me, even in verses that I've read a thousand times before. I've found comfort, understanding, and life in His words.

I'm not much of a journaler, but I'm an avid note taker. I used my note-taker's Bible for a long time and recently switched to the Life Bible App on my tablet. From there, I have access to devotionals, commentaries, and more that help me when I'm not sure what to read. But the even better part is all of my notes and highlights, and everything is all in one place on both my phone and tablet. I can pull up my Bible anywhere and add a thought or read my notes with ease.

Additionally, I also enjoy using the Dwell App for audio bible and devotional listening. You can listen to scriptures topically or verse by verse, chapter by chapter. There was a time when I was going through a lot of anxiety and nightmares so I started listening to scripture on the Dwell App as I went to sleep and it really helped me get through that period of time.

Listening to Music and Reading Christian Content

Something that I started doing recently is listening to sermons and testimonies on my 15-minute drive to and from work. It really helps me get my heart and mind set (or reset) on the Lord.

Ita good to remember that what we put in is what comes out. If you spend most of your time watching mindless TikTok videos and YouTube Shorts, then it's no surprise if that's all that comes out. Feeding your soul with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs is great for helping you keep your focus on him instead of letting your mind run wild with crazy thoughts.

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19

Some of the things I've listened to and read recently that were encouraging:

** When engaging with Christian content, it's crucial to "chew on the meat and spit out the bones." You don't need to agree with everything someone believes; just exercise discernment.

These are the main ingredients to growing a more intimate relationship with Jesus. It will look a little different for everyone. But it's important to make sure we are doing something to foster a healthy relationship with Him.

If you think about what it takes to flourish in a romantic relationship, it should be no different for us spiritually. We dedicate time into another person, learning what makes them tick, what pleases them, and how to love them. We should take that same approach with Jesus!

Please share your daily practices as well! I'd love to hear what you do to intentionally stay close to Jesus.
